Project HOME was founded in 1989 and named to reflect its vision to eradicate homelessness: Housing, Opportunities for Employment, Medical Care, and Education. Located in Philadelphia, Project HOME has become a nationally recognized leader in addressing homelessness and poverty, proving that with a comprehensive approach, these seemingly insurmountable challenges can indeed be remediated. The organization's strategy interweaves neighborhood-based affordable housing, economic development, and environmental enhancement programs. It also provides access to employment opportunities, adult and youth education, and health care.
Beyond offering this continuum of services, Project HOME engages in advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels on behalf of some of the nation's lowest-income and most-vulnerable communities. More broadly, the organization seeks to educate the public about the realities and lived experiences of extremely low-income and unhoused communities, and what can be done to address these challenges so that everyone has a chance to safely and confidently move towards self-actualization.
